Objective 1
Conduct research and advocacy to influence policies and practices of governments, UN, I/NGOs, and other development and humanitarian actors with a particular focus on hunger and its underlying causes
Tasks & responsibilities
· Design and coordinate/conduct policy-relevant research on social and development challenges pertaining to hunger, especially undernutrition, and its underlying causes;
· Design and develop innovative approaches to address prevailing challenges of nutrition in the country in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders;
· Conduct / lead research studies on areas focused by ACF and write research reports designed to influence the policy and practice of government, UN, I/NGOs and other stakeholders;
· Implement advocacy using the findings of ACF research studies, disseminate new ideas and policy papers, arrange meetings, organize trainings on research and research findings, represent ACF in relevant forums, etc.;
· Develop and maintain relations with relevant stakeholders and researchers in order to build networks for joint research, learning, and advocacy.
Objective 2
Contribute to strategies, approaches, programs, and projects designed to address the issues related to malnutrition and other priority research topics, as and when identified, and contribute to raising funds accordingly
Tasks & responsibilities
· Work with Program and Program Development team to integrate research components in concept notes, proposals, strategies, and other similar documents;
· Identify relevant opportunities for research and collaborations;
· Develop research proposals in coordination with Program Development team and support in fundraising;
· Engage with technical leads to develop, pilot and implement context based research and analysis methodologies;
· Support MEAL department in evidence generation activities, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, data management, etc.;
· Maintain database of questionnaires and responses as received during surveys, discussions, and other research activities.
Objective 3
To ensure inclusion across departmental work and within/by the team
Tasks & responsibilities
· Support mission level qualification for gender marker;
· Encourage inclusion within recruitment, training and promotion;
· Ensure inclusion within departmental planning, implementation and reporting.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory
Qualification:
Master and/or Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies or a related field.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
· Master’s degree in relevant field with minimum 04 years of overall experience in development sector OR Bachelor's degree in relevant field with minimum 06 years of overall experience in development sector;
· Past experience in developing research proposals and conducting research studies;
· Excellent drafting and writing skills;
· Data interpretation and analysis;
· Ability to work in a complex structure across partnerships;
· Good communication skills, fluent in English (professional English, reading, writing and speaking needed);
· Proficient in MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook, SPSS, ENA, and creative applications;
· Willing to travel to the field on occasion
Preference
· Persons with research publications in acclaimed journals will be preferred.
· Good analytical and communication skills and ability to deal with donors and multi stakeholders
· Demonstrate strong work ethics with a keen eye for detail.
· Proactive, persuasive, and ability to work under stress
