Health Education & Promotion is back-bone of Health and well-being, contributing to an increase in health status of the population and a reduction in unhealthy behaviours. The main responsibilities of the position are to Promote, maintain, and improve child health and community health by developing healthy behaviors. Collect and analyze data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies and environments. May also serve as a resource to assist individuals, other professionals, or the community, and may administer fiscal resources for health education programs.

Practical experience of working on health promotion.

Qualifications
Educated to Masters level or equivalent in Biological Sciences, Sociology, Mass Communication, Nutrition or Public Health
A professional qualification in health, Communication, social mobilization or community development
Knowledge & Skills
Excellent interpersonal, personal, organisational development and negotiating skills
Prepare and distribute health education material and use of visual aids such as films, videotapes, photographs, and posters for health promotion.
Work in partnership with Health & Education sectors to advise, encourage, motivate and when necessary provide training for them to develop health promoting activities.
Demonstrable knowledge of child health and well-being.
Design, develop, deliver and evaluate Health Sessions and encourage others to become involved.
Develop, organise and deliver a range of health promotion activities in relation to the needs identified at local level, through national and organization’s guidelines.
Knowledge of MNCH policy guidelines at national and local level
To have relevant health promotion knowledge of health education strategies in relation to child health and healthy life style
To have training and group work skills in relation to health promotion
Knowledge of Health Education monitoring indicators and evaluation.
To undertake community and organisational needs assessments and research, ensuring that health promotion activity is meeting the needs of the beneficiaries and the Public Health Agenda.
