Program Background Summary: Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) is five year USAID funded project starting in June 2013 to support the provincial and regional Departments of Education (DoE) throughout Pakistan to improve reading skills of at least 1.3 million children in grade one and two. The project will achieve this goal through three major but interrelated initiatives that are working together to affect the quality of primary education, teacher education, policy reforms, and community engagement to re-establish a national culture of reading in Pakistan. The result will be improved reading and assessment of 23,800 teachers in 23,800 public schools with improved skills in teaching reading; 3,649 scholarships for ADE and B.Ed (Hons) students; and mobile bus libraries reaching out to 300 communities. PRP anticipates that 2.5 million children will be able to read at a level commensurate with standards at their grade level.
Introduction:
Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) is implementing Sindhi Student assessment baseline survey based on EGRA in Sindh province. During this activity, students of grade I and grade II will be assessed using EGRA based tools developed by PRP technical team. During this agreement a Supervisor will be engaged with organization for almost 21 no of days to provide following responsibilities during month of August/September 2015.
Responsibilities:
1. Travel from her/his home town to provincial location to attend 05 days training workshop at Provincial venue to capacitate herself/himself on Standardized Administration of Student Assessment Tools developed on Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) approach as well as Student Questionnaire, Teacher Questionnaire and Classroom Observation tool.
2. Perform a day visit to school for practicing above mentioned tools and questionnaires by assessing grade I and grade II students teachers during training workshop.
3. Travel to allocated district field and perform necessary coordination with district education officials where students and teachers will be assessed in selected schools.
4. Ensure that enumerator perform pre-school departure activities as per training before visiting any school.
5. Observes 2 classes of teachers of grade I and grade II for 12 selected schools. Each day a single school will be visited.
6. Ensure that enumerators reach selected schools on time for assessing students and collect data according to the guidelines provided in the training workshop.
7. Ensure to re-verify classroom observations tools as per guidelines.
8. Ensure enumerators daily save collected data on tablet (offline) as a backup.
9. Ensure timely synchronization is made by the enumerators for uploading the data.

Experience:
Experience with administration of EGRA
Teaching experience of at least 5 years at primary level
Supervising experience with data collecting and monitoring/evaluation activities preferred
Experience with public and/or private education preferred
Experience with development project preferred
Fluent in Sindhi and English language
