Purpose & Background of the Position:
The Social Organizer will be based in district Charsada where donor funded WASH project shall be implemented. S/he would be expected to provide support to a donor funded project in accordance with Qatar Charity (QC) guidelines. Following this, s/he is to abide by QC systems and procedures in social mobilization, monitoring and evaluation. This position is expected to assume overall responsibility of hygiene promotion, highlighting needs for WASH infrastructure development and conduct social mobilization in the communities along with Government facilities (schools & health centres). The position is required to ensure that all the activities according to the desired project goal and objectives.
Major Tasks:
As part of project’s social mobilization team under the direct supervision of the PO-SMU and the Project Manager, the incumbent of the post will have the following responsibilities:
• Preparing weekly, monthly and overall DIP under the direct supervision of PO-SMU
• Introduce Qatar Charity's program to the local communities and formation of local WASH Committees.
• Develop profile of the villages/area
• Assist in developing a social mobilization strategy and spatial planning for donor funded project within his/her assigned district.
• To begin with baseline survey of target communities, and continue to monitor social change and new social information relevant to community empowerment.
• Responsible for coordination with all stakeholder at the Union Council and village level
• To identify stakeholders, potential leaders, influential, decision makers/opinion makers in the assigned working area.
• To provide community leaders with management skills and knowledge (about CLTS and hygiene) in getting community members interested, organized and motivated.
• To assess the needs and resources required for the sanitation and hygiene promotion in the target areas.
• To motivate and encourage potential leaders to talk to their fellow community members about unity and self-reliance.
• To conduct in Behaviour Change Communication Campaign (BCC Campaign) in light of PATS+ guidelines.
• Record all field related project activities on prescribed formats.
• Maintaining good relations with communities, notables and local contact persons to involve them in project activities and seek their support wherever required
• Coordinate closely with the other stakeholders implementing projects in the targeted district for timely implementation of the donor funded project. Also, to mitigate any duplication or replication of efforts.
• Undertake extensive field visits, and surveys in order to deliver the project.
• Identify problems and proposes remedial action.
• Identify alternative courses of action and accelerate/improve programme delivery.
• Prepare reports on the areas where QC work can be carried out using specific tools for gathering data, prepare the evaluation phases and implement the recommendations.
• Submit the weekly report to the supervisor (PO-SMU)
• Identify, assess, select, develop and maintain referral system with local NGOs and other service providers
• Training local activists in the basics of organizing communities and introducing a programme of savings, capital formation, and skill development.
